Eewansaapita Youth Education

Posted in Primary Sources and Artifacts

These images depict Myaamia youth participating in activities at the Eewansaapita Summer Educational Experience. The summer program provides Myaamia language and cultural education for tribally enrolled youth, and non-enrolled children of enrolled Tribal members. The summer program is administered through the Miami Tribe’s Myaamia Education Office with teaching staff and curricular support coming from the Myaamia Center at Miami University. Designed for youth ages 10–16, the summer program has proven to be a very positive way to bring our young people together to gain and share our cultural knowledge. The images show students playing lacrosse among other activities.  Myaamia Center Images DSC9233 (left) DSC9694 (center) DSC9810 (right).
