Posted in Primary Sources and Artifacts

This image is an illustration of Wyandots on canal boats being removed from land in northwestern Ohio. Similarly, the Miami were loaded onto canal boats and removed from their homelands in Indiana in 1846. They traveled along the Miami and Erie canal to Cincinnati. From Cincinnati they traveled to Bloody Island near St. Louis, Missouri on the Mississippi River. From Bloody Island they took a steamship the rest of the way to Kansas.
